Nightface - Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Nightface is a bedside night clock by Time Design LLC for iPhone and Android. On iPhone it also offers StandBy, Lock Screen and Home Screen widgets, alarms, timers, sleep sounds, weather and a background library; on Android it offers the clock, an Android screen saver while charging, Home Screen widgets and a Quick Settings tile.

The app works without an account. Your data is stored on your device and is not sent to Time Design LLC. This policy explains what the app stores, which permissions it may ask for, and which network connections it makes. Where the iPhone and Android versions differ, the difference is stated.

2. Data We Collect

We do not collect personal data. Time Design LLC does not operate servers that receive the content you create in Nightface, and the app contains no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking SDKs.

3. Data Stored on Your Device

The following is stored only on your device, inside the app (on iPhone also in the app group it shares with its widgets):

  • Clock settings: chosen clock faces and colors, brightness, night filter, night schedule and what the clock shows (date, battery, next alarm).
  • Widget configurations.
  • iPhone only: alarms, timers, countdowns, world-clock cities, photos you pick as a clock background (copies are kept inside the app) and downloaded backgrounds from the background library (cached files).
  • Your Pro status (a cached copy of what the App Store or Google Play reports).

4. Permissions

On iPhone every permission is optional and requested only when you use the related feature. On Android the app asks for no runtime permissions. Data obtained through these permissions is used only to show it to you inside the app and never leaves your device, except where stated below. You can change permissions at any time in your device settings.

  • Health, read only (iPhone). If you allow it, the app reads your sleep analysis to show how long you slept in the morning summary. It never writes to Health, never sends health data anywhere and never uses it for advertising or marketing.
  • Calendar (iPhone). Used to show your next event on the clock and in the morning summary. Events are read on the device and are not stored or sent elsewhere.
  • Location, approximate, while using the app (iPhone). Used only to request the local weather from Apple Weather. We do not receive or store your location.
  • Photos (iPhone). The system photo picker gives the app only the photos you select for backgrounds; the add-only permission lets the app save a background you choose to your library.
  • Alarms and notifications (iPhone). Used to ring the alarms and timers you create and for the optional hourly chime.
  • Next alarm and battery (Android). The clock shows the time of the next alarm set in your system clock app and the battery level. Both are read from Android on the device, need no permission and are not stored or sent anywhere.
  • Internet and network state (Android). Used only by Google Play Billing and Google Play In-App Review (see Sections 5 and 6).

5. Network Connections

Apple Weather (WeatherKit, iPhone). To show weather, the app sends your approximate location to Apple. Apple processes it under the Apple Privacy Policy.

Background library (iPhone). The list of backgrounds and the images are downloaded from our file storage at bg.sygen.pro (served by Cloudflare). These are plain file downloads: the app sends no identifiers, account data or personal information. As with any web request, the delivery network processes your IP address to deliver the file; we do not keep logs that identify you.

App Store and Google Play. Purchase checks go to Apple (StoreKit) or Google (Google Play Billing), see Section 6. On Android, the optional in-app rating prompt is shown by Google Play In-App Review and handled by Google under the Google Privacy Policy.

The app makes no other network requests. The Android version downloads nothing else from the internet: it has no weather and no background library.

6. In-App Purchases

Nightface Pro is available as a subscription (with a free trial where offered) or as a one-time purchase. On iPhone it is sold through the App Store and processed by Apple (StoreKit); on Android it is sold through Google Play and processed by Google (Google Play Billing). We never receive your name, Apple ID, Google account, card or billing details — the app only receives the status of your purchase. On iPhone, purchases can be restored with “Restore Purchases”; on Android, they are restored automatically from Google Play.

You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple ID settings (Subscriptions) on iPhone, or in Google Play › Payments & subscriptions › Subscriptions on Android.

7. Tracking and Advertising

  • No tracking and no analytics.
  • No advertising and no advertising identifiers (IDFA on iPhone, Advertising ID on Android).
  • No data is sold or shared with third parties.
  • No account, no sign-in, no contact list access.

8. Exports and Backups

The app has no data export. On iPhone, backgrounds are saved to your photo library only when you choose to save them.

The app's data may be included in your device backups according to your settings: on iPhone in iCloud or computer backups handled by Apple; on Android, Android backup to your Google Drive (when you have it turned on, handled by Google) includes only the app's settings file, not your purchase status. Those backups are controlled by you, not by us.

9. Children's Privacy

Nightface is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from them.

10. Data Retention and Deletion

Your data stays on your device until you delete it in the app or delete the app. Deleting the app removes its data from your device. Because we hold no copy of your data, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when the app changes. The effective date at the top shows the latest version.
